Fleet inspection software for annual and custom inspections
Orange Fleet keeps annual inspections, CVIP certificates, Schedule 4 records and custom inspections with the vehicle they belong to. See what is coming due and keep the paperwork ready for review.
Inspection records sit alongside preventive maintenance and driver qualification files, so vehicle and driver compliance are in the same app.

Track annual inspections with each vehicle
Annual inspection tracking keeps the inspection record and its next due date with the unit. Orange Fleet brings these records into the vehicle file rather than leaving them in a separate spreadsheet.
A current inspection record is one part of fleet compliance. Keep maintenance records and driver files current too; software does not replace the carrier's responsibility to meet the rules that apply to its operation.
- Keep annual inspection documents with the vehicle
- See upcoming inspection dates
- Use reminders before an inspection expires
Upload a CVIP and keep the next due date in view
Orange Fleet reads the date from an uploaded CVIP PDF and matches the inspection to the unit. A countdown shows when the next inspection is due, with a reminder before expiry.
Upload the CVIP PDF
Start with the inspection certificate you already have.
Read the date and match the unit
The app extracts the inspection date and connects the record to the vehicle.
Track the countdown
See the due date and receive a reminder before the inspection expires.
Record Schedule 4 digitally or upload the paper form
Schedule 4 can be completed as a digital form or kept as an upload of an existing paper inspection. The record stays with the vehicle, with a countdown and reminder before it expires.
Keep the inspection history in the vehicle file so the current record and earlier paperwork can be reviewed together. The inspection requirements that apply depend on the vehicle and the operation.
Create custom inspection types for your fleet
Custom inspection types let your fleet track the checks it needs beyond the standard inspection categories. Keep those records in the same vehicle workspace as annual inspections and maintenance.
An internal custom check is not automatically a substitute for a legally required inspection. Choose the inspection type and process that meet the requirements for your vehicles.
Keep inspections and preventive maintenance together
Inspections and preventive maintenance are different records for the same vehicle. Orange Fleet tracks both, so inspection paperwork and the record of regular service can be reviewed in one place.
Explore fleet maintenance tracking for preventive maintenance and vehicle records. For the people operating those vehicles, see driver qualification files and driver hiring.
Understand the rules behind the paperwork
For covered U.S. commercial motor vehicles, 49 CFR 396.17 sets out periodic inspection requirements. 49 CFR 396.3 addresses systematic inspection, repair and maintenance and the records a carrier must keep.
CVIP and Schedule 4 requirements depend on the applicable jurisdiction and vehicle category. Check the rules for your operation rather than assuming all vehicles use the same inspection period.
Summary only. Check the current regulatory text. Orange Fleet tracks records and dates; it does not perform the physical inspection or guarantee compliance. Read more about DOT compliance software, or see pricing.
